Maren Sanchez: Students Hold Vigil For Girl, 16, Murdered Over Prom

In a moving show of support and remembrance, Maren Sanchez’s fellow classmates chose to cancel their prom, and hold a seaside vigil to pay tribute to the passing of someone they loved.

Instead of their prom on April 25, Jonathan Law High School students went to a vigil by the seaside at Walnut Beach in Milford, Conn., in memory of their murdered classmate Maren Sanchez. There were about 200 students and other members of the community in attendance. Some, still in tears over her passing, even wore their prom dresses and tuxedos.
