MOBILE, Ala. (AP) — A weakening storm moving through the Gulf Coast is expected to pelt some areas of Alabama with between 1 and 2 inches of rain, meteorologists said Sunday.
The storm was expected to move through coastal Alabama Sunday ahead of an approaching cold front, National Weather Service Forecasters said, adding that the heavy rain could prompt minor flooding in some low lying areas. The storm was part of the system surrounding Karen, which was downgraded from a tropical storm and dissipated Sunday afternoon.
Intermittent heavy rains moved across the Alabama coast on Sunday morning and winds were brisk, but the weather wasn’t bad enough to keep tourists off the beach.
