Cycles 4 Hope Bringing Bikes To Homeless, Children In Need

GRANITE BAY (CBS13) — A group is working to give the homeless population the gift of freedom through donated bicycles.

Whether it’s your son’s or daughter’s bike they’ve outgrown, or a bike you just don’t use anymore, Cycles 4 Hope knows some people who could use it.

It looks like a busy bike shop in Granite Bay, but the group doesn’t sell a thing. Instead they give Sacramento’s homeless a ticket to ride.

“For somebody in need, it becomes critical transportation that gets them to social services,” said Curt Nichols with Cycles 4 Hope. “It gets them a job, it gets them to medical services, might get them to school.”

But the 1,200 or so bikes the group gives out each year aren’t just given to those living on the streets. This time of the year, they also go to children in need.
